About me: I have 15 years’ professional experience of editing and proofreading, including over 10 years spent working in-house at a leading global transcreation agency, where I was responsible for the overall quality of all English work. I am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP).

My main specialism is marketing copy, including corporate websites, product copy, social media content, app copy, corporate communications, newsletters, emails, press releases and recruitment campaigns, and I also have some experience in editing books. I am well-versed in editing and proofreading in various formats, including Word, PowerPoint, PDF and Excel.

I also have extensive experience of editing text that has been written by non-native English speakers, as well as localising text that has been written in US English to make it suitable for the UK audience. In addition to editing, proofreading and localisation, I also translate copy from German to English.

About me:  

Editing in all aspects of education publishing – especially children’s school materials – has been my career since the 1980s. Since leaving the University of York in 2017, where I worked for 12 years as Publications Manager, I have returned to freelancing and widened my field to include fiction, general non-fiction and arts and culture.

I have extensive experience, with high-level copy editing and proofreading skills. I am known for my ability to ensure that text is clear, accurate and aligns with relevant style; excellent time management and organisational skills; a keen eye for design and typography; and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. I understand the importance of teamwork, working precisely to schedule, asking the right questions and thinking ahead to the next step.
