Skills: Proofreading and proof-editing. I am conversant with Microsoft Word track changes, Adobe commenting tools and BSI mark-up. I am comfortable working on screen and paper.
Subjects: I am happy to proofread any genre; it enriches my education. I am interested in crafts (I am an embroidery specialist), charities and not-for-profit organisations, history, animal welfare, Koi carp husbandry, memoirs, autobiographies, biographies and travel.
Types of publication: I have proofread a wide range of publications including fiction, non-fiction, websites, magazines, essays and theses. I am particularly interested in publicity materials.
About me:
My recent assignments include novels, a children’s journal, an art book on figurative painting, a self-help book on ME, an account of lockdown, a book on reptile and amphibian care and community projects focusing on local history. I also proofread academic essays and dissertations. I am the editor of my local parish magazine.
I specialise in proofreading material on counted-thread embroidery including cross stitch, needlepoint, pulled-thread work and drawn-thread work. I have a personal interest in animal welfare. I also enjoy proofreading marketing material such as catalogues, magazines and leaflets where consistency of presentation in layout, images and text is crucial.
I have a keen eye for detail, deliver quality proofreads by the deadline and welcome any genre of work.
